Quest-based learning, game theory and game elements inform course design and support the development of immersive learning environments. Our project breaks the predictive model of online learning through the creation of EPIC learning experiences that tap into student curiosity, active engagement, critical thinking, and hopefully create again a 'sense of wonder' around learning!
A quest-based curriculum builds multiple learning pathways for students to master course content. Students are provided choice, experience consequences for their decisions and arrive at different course endings. Student engage in self-directed learning as they move beyond content coverage within a multimedia online learning immersive environment. Creating opportunities for deepened content understandings within socio-emotional learning is central to the M.O.L.I.E. Course Design.
